Research Data Utilization Forum(RDUF)

Research Data Utilization Forum (RDUF) was established in May 2016.
The principal mission of the RDUF is to encourage the utilization of research data based on open science.
The RDUF is willing to support the communication on research data management and open science in various inter-disciplinary and inter-sectional views.

RDUF Members

RDUF consists of “organizational member” and “personal member”.
Currently, 7 organizations, including university, library, research institute, and funding agency, belong to RDUF and support the operation of RDUF.
We also have more than 150 persons as personal members with various backgrounds, such as researchers, librarians, university administrative staff, IT technicians, etc.
Notably, RDUF provides the community among various stakeholders, not only for personal relationships but also for personal-organizational and organizational-organizations.

Subcommittee

Subcommittee (小委員会) is a short-term working group to tackle an emerged problem in the development of open science and research data management, especially among Japanese academia and research communities.
A subcommittee is organized by the RDUF members, who arrange meetings and seminars to exchange opinions and find common knowledge on their topic.
The activities of the subcommittees are summarized as reports, guidelines, infographics, etc., and open to the public. (see also ‘deliverable’)

Permanent Subcommittee

Permanent Subcommittee (部会) was formulated in February 2020.
Permanent subcommittees are intended to proceed with sustainable actions for the development of open science based on the previous outcome.

Deliverable

Many materials, such as reports, guidelines, infographics, etc., have been issued through the activities of RDUF (especially by our subcommittees).
The materials are sometimes adopted as commentary or references of the Japanese government and academic organizations.
